                                  'September in the Rain'

A Drama    by John Godber

 Our season begins with a play written by popular author John Godber.  John Godber based this play on the lives of his grandparents. The incidents taking place in the play reflect fact and were the myths of his childhood.  Their marriage is portrayed with great pathos and humour and it is transmitted to the audience with a directness that will touch the heart.

                                  'Star Quality'

A Comedy    written by Noel Coward, adapted by Christopher Luscombe

 In his wickedly funny final play. Noel Coward takes us behind the scenes of a new West End production. Conjuring up an authentic backstage world of talent and treachery Coward creates a gallery of unforgettable characters  - a temperamental leading lady, a ruthless director,  jaded old troupers  and somewhere between them all, an innocent young playwright. What emerges from the mayhem is a startling evocation of that most elusive gift of all - Star Quality.

                                 'Mother Goose'

Following on from our very successful 'Aladdin' we are returning to the same writing team for 2009.  This is a truly family pantomime with something for everyone young and old to enjoy.

Come along to a world of make believe, where the good guys always prevail over the bad guys and the Goose's Golden Eggs ensure that everyone lives happily ever after.

'And a Nightingale Sang'

A Drama   by C.P. Taylor

This play follows the course of World War II as experienced by a working-class family in Newcastle.  In wartime there are no public worries, only private worries, and this story of the family's personal relationships, preoccupations, troubles and joys suggests, perhaps, the reason why - with all the perils and troubles  beseiging it - the human race will continue to survive.

'Snake in the Grass'

A Thriller   by  Alan  Ackbourn

This is a thriller  which has many twists and turns - Miriam with the help of a creepily polite nurse  Alice - has cared for her father for many years.  On her father's death Miriam finds out that her sister Annabel has been left the bulk of his fortune.  Alice - complains to Annabel that Miriam has sacked her and is intent upon blackmail, having evidence, she says, that Miriam did away with the old man. - but unfortunately for her Miriam and Annabel join forces against Alice with dire consequences!

'Dad's Army'

A Comedy   by Jimmy Perry and David Croft


This classic BBC TV comedy series of the Home Guard of Walmington-on-Sea who battle daily against the Nazi Hoards and local ARP Warden Hodges, comes to the stage complete  with all the well-loved characters; 'Stupid boy' Pike, 'Don't panic, don't panic Jonesey. 'Doomed, we're all doomed!' Fraser, 'May I be excused, sir?' Godfrey, and not forgetting the redoutable Captain Mainwaring  and his deputy Sergeant Wilson, a play which all the family will enjoy.
